Battersea's GII gastropub has had a sleek makeover. Still in the same ownership, it's now a sophisticated cocktail bar with lots of dark wood, low lighting, chocolate- coloured booths and strategically placed candles. Lounge in one of the low leather banquettes and choose from the long list of cocktails; they're made using premium spirits, and brought to you by disarmingly friendly bartenders. The bar snacks are simple platters of grilled or fried nibbles, mostly but made with obvious care. At the moment, there are various offers and deals: you can get two cocktails for the price of one on Mondays and Tuesdays. Later in the week, DJs replace the chill- out music with funky house or jazz- inspired riffs. Best go soon, while it's still a little- known treasure.
