The striking nests of red flowers strategically placed around this spacious, chic, very large and very fashionable bar confirmed our hunch that someone's trying very hard here - and succeeding. Although primarily a hotel bar, it casts its net far wider and has become one of the trendiest destinations in town. The decor is minimalist but stylish, with tall pillars, huge, half- frosted picture windows offering a partial view of Trafalgar Square, ranked chaises longues and uniformed serving staff who seem particularly in tune with their customers' whims. If bourbon's your drink then this could easily become your second home: the room- long bar displays just about every variety known to man and a few that aren't. Cocktails are lovingly prepared and the wine list is comprehensive enough to satisfy just about any contingency you throw at it.
